Arduino L298N 2A Motor Drive Shield

Double H driver module uses ST L298N dual full-bridge driver, an integrated monolithic circuit in a 15- lead Multiwatt and PowerSO20 packages. It is a high voltage, high current dual full-bridge driver designed to accept standard TTL logic levels and drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, DC and stepping motors. Two enable inputs are provided to enable or disable the device independently of the input signals. The emitters of the lower transistors of each bridge are connected together and the corresponding external terminal can be used for the con-nection of an external sensing resistor. An additional supply input is provided so that the logic works at a lower voltage.

Function Description :

1、Power Input: VMS=Motor power, GND=Ground wire (all ground wire connected together), VCC=Chip power (input is 5v ,and need connect VIN when more than 6.5V )
2、Multimeter could connect current detection side of motor A in series ,to measuring current.
3、Multimeter could connect current detection side of motor B in series ,to measuring current.
4、The motor A can be connected anther motor by the output of motor A.
5、The motor B can be connected anther motor by the output of motor B.
6、Console side of motor A: EA is enable , IA is controlling reversing.
EA=1,IA=1 motor A is forward,
EA=1,IA=0 motor A is reverse,
EA=0, the motor is stopped.
7、Console side of motor B: EB is enable , IB is controlling reversing.
EB=1,IB=1 motor B is forward,
EB=1,IB=0 motor B is reverse,
EA=0, the motor is stopped.
8、Power supply port: VMS=Motor power, VCC=Chip power, VIN=Input of the regulator chip.
a) When the power supply is more than 6.5V on the entire circuit, short the VMS and VIN, then the chip and motor will share the same power (Voltage regulation by VIN , the chip’s power is 5V )
b) When the motor and chip separate power supply , if the chip’s power is 5V , the chip’s power supply need to connect VCC , if the chip’s power is more than 6.5V , the chip’s power supply need to connect VIN.
9、GND VIN input, power could be inputted by jumpwire easily.
10、VCC GND input, power could be inputted by jumpwire easily.
11、The 74hc14 inverter chip , controlling the motor’s reversing by an IO port.
