Using a magnetometer can be a little tricky, especially if you’re unsure about the formulas to use to get the correct bearing and when other magnetic objects are interfering with your signal. You could download a arduino library for this module, which will also be compatible with other HMC5883L breakout boards made by other manufacturers.

Parameter :

1) VCC: 4.5V~6V, typically 5V

2) Interface: I2C (3.3V~5V TTL)

3) Size: 25.5mm x 33.6mm

4) ROSH: Lead-Free

Download the Arduino Library for HMC5883L and extract it to your library folder in your Arduino installation. Mine is here: C:Program Files (x86)arduino-0021libraries

Connect this module with Arduino :

1、Arduino GND -> HMC5883L GND

2、Arduino 3.3V -> HMC5883L VCC

3、Arduino A4 (SDA) -> HMC5883L SDA

4、Arduino A5 (SCL) -> HMC5883L SCL

Here we use Arduino Sensor Shield to make connection very easy.
